• How can I give Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension to my child? Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is to be taken with food.

• How Augmentin Oral Suspension works Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

  Alcohol:

  Interaction with alcohol is unknown. Please consult your doctor.

  Driving:

  Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension may cause side effects such as allergic reactions, dizziness or fits that may make you unfit to drive.

• 
  Kidney:

  Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor. The dose also needs to be reduced in neonates and infants due to incompletely developed renal function.

  Liver:

  Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended while you are taking this medicine

  Pregnancy:

  Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

  Breastfeeding:

  Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
