• Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
• It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes

• Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is to be taken with food.

• Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the bodys sensitivity to insulin.

  Alcohol:

  It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Metformin 500 Tablet (145) .

  Kidney:

  Metformin 500 Tablet (145) should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metformin 500 Tablet (145) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

  Liver:

  Metformin 500 Tablet (145) should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metformin 500 Tablet (145) may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

  Pregnancy:

  Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

  Breastfeeding:

  Metformin 500 Tablet (145) is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
